Tulare

Town in Tulare County, south-central California, USA; population (2000) 44,000. It is located 64 km/40 mi southeast of Fresno, in the San Joaquin Valley. Industries include food processing, wine, and dairy products. The town has a variety of creameries, cotton gins, and food packing plants. Tulare was built 1871 as a division headquarters for the Southern Pacific Railroad.
