Tulou, Jean-Louis (1786–1865)

French flautist and composer. He first learnt music from his father, the bassoonist Jean-Pierre Tulou (1749–99), and studied at the Paris Conservatory. He played successively in the orchestras of the Théâtre Italien and the Opéra and in 1829 became flute professor at the Conservatory, leaving in 1856 to take up flute manufacture.

flute concertos, flute duets and trios, variations, fantasies and other pieces for flute and piano, test pieces for flute.
