Tummel

River and loch in Perth and Kinross unitary authority, Scotland. The River Tummel begins where Dunalastair Water, to the east of Loch Rannoch, narrows at its eastern end. The river broadens into Loch Tummel for a distance of 11 km/7 mi, reaching a width of about 1 km/0.6 mi. It is joined by the River Garry 2 km/1 mi east of the loch at the Tummel Falls, and flows through Loch Faskally before its final confluence with the River Tay, 11 km/7 mi northwest of Dunkeld.

Hydroelectricity produced in the Tummel Valley complex forms part of the Tay basin generating scheme. A hydroelectric visitors' centre established in Pitlochry near Loch Faskally, includes a fish ladder to allow migration of salmon.
