Tupamaros

Urban guerrilla movement operating in Uruguay, aimed at creating a Marxist revolution, largely active in the 1960s and 1970s, named after 18th-century revolutionary Túpac Amarú. It was founded by Raul Sendic (died 1989); he served more than 13 years in prison.
