Turn of the Screw, The

Opera in a prologue and two acts by Britten (libretto by Myfanwy Piper, after Henry James), produced in Venice on 14 September 1954, and in London, on 6 October 1954. The story begins as the Governess arrives at her new post to find children Flora and Miles in the power of two malevolent ghosts, Quint and Jessil. Eventually the evil spirits are banished, but Miles dies in the process.
