Turnage, Mark-Anthony (1960- )| English composer. He studied at the Royal College of Music with Oliver Knussen 1974-78, and with Henze and Schuller at Tanglewood in Philadelphia. His music admits a wide range of influences, including popular elements. His opera Greek, performed at Munich and Edinburgh in 1988, was a major success, and his other works include a saxophone concerto (1993), and Three Screaming Popes (1989), for orchestra. |
