Turner, Kathleen (1954– )

US film and stage actor. She has appeared in a variety of roles, consolidating her fame in the popular comedy romance Romancing the Stone (1984) and its sequel Jewel of the Nile (1985). Other films include Crimes of Passion (1984), Prizzi's Honor (1985), Peggy Sue Got Married (1986, Academy Award nomination), and The Virgin Suicides (2000).

She later provided Jessica Rabbit's husky tones in the partially animated film Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (1988) and appeared in such films as The War of the Roses (1989), V I Warshawski (1991), Serial Mom (1994), and Moonlight and Valentino (1996).

Her stage work includes Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1989), and Indiscretions (1996). In 2000 she appeared in The Graduate in London, a theatrical adaptation of Charles Webb's novel (1963) and Mike Nichols's film (1967).

Born in Springfield, Missouri, Turner studied at the Central School of Speech and Drama in London, then returned to New York and was eventually cast in the television soap opera The Doctors (1978–80). Her feature film debut was in Body Heat (1981).
