Tuscarawas County

County in east-central Ohio; area 1,476 sq km/570 sq mi; population (1990) 84,100. Its capital is New Philadelphia. A largely rural county, it depends on agriculture (dairy, grain, and livestock) as well as manufacturing at Dover, New Philadelphia, and Newcomerstown. There are coal and clay deposits.

The county is intersected by the Tuscarawas River.
