Tutbury

Small town in Staffordshire, England, on the River Dove, 6 km/4 mi from Burton upon Trent; population (2001) 5,250 (Tutbury and Outwoods). The town has agricultural and antique trade, a glass-cutting works, and manufactures sheepskin and leather goods; tourism is important.

Features include the ruins of the 14th-15th-century castle in which Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned, and a church built in about 1083, with a Norman doorway.
