A sphere is a perfectly round three-dimensional figure. Its radius is the distance from the centre to the surface. When a sphere is cut along a great circle (a circle on the sphere that has the same diameter as the sphere), two hemispheres are produced.

Perfectly round object with all points on its surface the same distance from the centre. This distance is the radius of the sphere. For a sphere of radius r, the volume V = 4/3πr3 and the surface area A = 4πr2.
