Tynan, Kenneth Peacock (1927–1980)

English theatre critic and author, a leading cultural figure of the radical 1960s. His eloquent and sometimes highly acerbic reviews made him a key influence in post-war British drama, and he was involved in the development of the National Theatre in the 1970s. A strong opponent of censorship, he devised the nude revue Oh Calcutta! (1969), first staged in New York, USA. His publications include A View of the English Stage 1944–63 (1975).
