Ucayali

River in eastern Peru. This is one of the Amazon's main headstreams, formed by the union of the Apurímac (or Tambo) and Urumbamba rivers. The Ucayali flows approximately 1,600 km/994 mi north through the Loreto department, joining the Marañon River to form the Amazon 88 km/55 mi south-southwest of Iquitos. The river is navigable for its entire length by small craft.
