ugli fruit

Trademark for a cultivated Jamaican citrus fruit, a three-way cross between a grapefruit, a tangerine, and an orange. Sweeter than a grapefruit but sharper than a tangerine, with rough skin, it is eaten fresh or used in jams and preserves for a sweet-sour flavour. It is native to the East Indies and its name comes from its misshapen appearance.
