Ulam, Adam (Bruno) (1922–2000)

Polish-born US specialist on Russia. Although many of his books focused on the Russian political system of the Cold War era, he also wrote The Fall of the American University (1972) and contributed to many professional journals.

Ulam was born in Lviv, Poland (now the Ukraine). Emigrating to the USA to teach government at Harvard University (1947), he directed the Russian Research Center 1973–74. He was also a research associate for the Center for International Studies, Massachusetts Institute of Technology 1953–55.
