Opera by Dallapiccola (libretto by composer, after Homer); (1959–68) produced at the Deutsche Oper, Berlin, on 29 September 1968, conducted by Maazel. The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) studio performance was on 20 September 1969. Ulysses meets Princess Nausicaa and recounts his story. He then spends a year with the enchantress Circe before visiting the Sirens and Hades on the way home to his wife Penelope.
