Ullapool

Fishing port and tourist centre in Wester Ross, Highland unitary authority, Scotland, situated on the sea-inlet of Loch Broom, 80 km/50 mi northwest of Inverness; population (2001) 1,300. A planned town, it was found in 1788 by the British Fishery Society at the height of the herring boom. It is the main ferry point for travel to the Isle of Lewis.
