Umatilla River

River in Umatilla County, northeast Oregon; length 140 km/85 mi. It rises in the Blue Mountains, and flows through Umatilla National Forest, then west through the Umatilla Indian Reservation, continuing past Pendleton, before moving northwest where it joins the Columbia River at the town of Umatilla, an 1860s gold rush supply centre.
