Umbriel

One of the five major moons of Uranus, discovered by English astronomer William Lassell in 1851. It is 1,172 km/728 mi in diameter and orbits Uranus at an average distance of 266,000 km/165,000 mi with a period (time taken to circle the planet) of 4.14 days. One of the darkest moons in the Solar System, Umbriel is thought to be covered in a thin sooty coating that has been undisturbed by impacts.

The poem goes on to tell how Umbriel, a dusky melancholy sprite, in order to make the quarrel worse, flew off to the witch Spleen, and returned with a bag full of "sighs, sobs, and passions, and the war of tongues," "soft sorrows, melting griefs, and flowing tears," and emptied it over Belinda's head.
