Underworld

UK dance music act formed in London in 1987, and comprising Karl Hyde (vocals and guitar, 1957– ), Rick Smith (guitar and keyboards, 1959– ), and Darren Emerson (keyboards, 1971– ). Their greatest chart success was the non-album single ‘Born Slippy’, which was used in the soundtrack to the 1995 film Trainspotting .

Hyde and Smith formed Underworld in 1987; Emerson joined in 1992. In 1993 they released their first album, Dubnobasswithmyheadman. Other albums include Second Toughest in the Infants (1996), Beaucoup Fish (1999), and A Hundred Days Off (2002).

In 1993 they released the hugely successful singles ‘Rez’ and ‘Mmm... Skyscraper I Love You’.
