United Democratic Front

Moderate multiracial political organization in South Africa, founded 1983. It was an important focus of anti-apartheid action in South Africa until 1989, when the African National Congress and Pan-Africanist Congress were legalized.

The Assam United Democratic Front (AUDF) and Bodoland People's Front (BPF) secured one seat each.
The DPP was created after the 2004 elections, when Mutharika broke away from Muluzi's United Democratic Front.
The following parties were not registered though they did complete the requisite national convention: United Democratic Front (UDF) which conducted its national convention on February 27, 2009; United Democratic Salvation Front (UDSF) led by Gabriel Changson Chan; and United Democratic Front (UDF) led by Peter Abdrhaman Sule; Sudan African National Union (SANU) which held its second National Convention in Juba after 47 years from April 16-17, 2009.
