US Naval Observatory

US government observatory in Washington, DC, that provides the nation's time service and publishes almanacs for navigators, surveyors, and astronomers. It contains a 66-cm/26-in refracting telescope opened in 1873. A 1.55-m/61-in reflector for measuring positions of celestial objects was opened in 1964 at Flagstaff, Arizona.

I wrote to Charles Worley who was in charge of the WDS catalogue at the United States Naval Observatory in Washington.
To classify accident and traffic volume data by day and night, sunrise and sunset information was acquired from the United States Naval Observatory.
