Upper Darby

Township in Delaware County, south Pennsylvania; population (1990) 81,200. It is situated to the southwest of Philadelphia, on Darby Creek. Its development has been closely linked with that of Philadelphia. While primarily residential, it has some light industry, producing aircraft parts, plastic, wood, and rubber products, and communications equipment. Drexel Hill, Stonehurst, and Highland Park are among the township's communities.
