Angara
| Tributary of the River Yenisey in southern Siberia, Russian Federation, which flows out of the southeastern end of Lake Baikal; length 1,779 km/1,105 mi. Most of it is navigable. Large reservoirs for the hydroelectric plants at Irkutsk and Bratsk have shortened the original length of the river by some 50 km. Other hydroelectric schemes have been built at Ust-Ilimsk and Boguchany. |
