Urbandale

Town in Polk County, central Iowa; population (1996 est) 27,000. It is situated to the northwest of Des Moines. A residential suburb, it also has some light industry and warehousing facilities.

The Living History Farms is a 423 ha/4.23 sq km/1.63 sq mi open-air museum of agricultural life with five time periods ranging over 300 years. In 1998 the Living History Farms attracted over 100,000 visitors.
