Uusikaupunki

Seaport of southern Finland, on the Gulf of Bothnia 65 km/40 mi northwest of Turku, in Turku ja Pori province; population (2002) 11,300.

The Russo-Swedish Treaty of Nystad was signed here in 1721, ending the Great Northern War and giving wide areas of the Baltic to Russia.

The museum Dynamokeskus Bonk opened in Uusikaupunki 1994, documenting the rise of an imaginary industrial dynasty devised by the artist Alvar Gullichsen (1961– ).
