Uwharrie Mountains

Hilly remnants, locally referred to as mountains, of a much older range in south-central North Carolina, extending south of High Point and southwest of Asheboro, to the vicinity of Albemarle; height 300 m/1,000 ft. The Uwharrie River flows south from the High Point area for about 100 km/60 mi through Uwharrie National Forest to join the Yadkin River, forming the Pee Dee River.
