Vista

City in San Diego County, southwest California; population (1990) 71,900. It is located 11 km/7 mi east of Oceanside and 51 km/32 mi north of San Diego. In foothills along Buena Creek, this once primarily agricultural community, which has engaged in truck farming, poultry raising, and avocado, citrus, and flower growing, has expanded rapidly since the 1950s as a residential suburb.
