Vail

Town in Eagle County, north Colorado; population (1990) 3,700. It is situated on Gore Creek, in the White River National Forest, at a height of 2,486 m/8,150 ft, 42 km/26 mi north of Leadville. One of North America's top ski resorts, it developed after World War II. Among its features are a ski school, bobsled course, and the Colorado Ski Museum and Ski Hall of Fame.
