Valentini, Giovanni (c. 1583–1649)

Italian organist and composer. In 1614 he was organist to the Archduke Ferdinand at Graz, and on his patron's succession to the title of Emperor Ferdinand II in 1619 remained in his service. In 1629 he became Kapellmeister and continued in this employment under Ferdinand III. His church music is highly ornate for its time.
