Valladolid

Province of Spain in central Castilla-León autonomous community; area 8,200 sq km/3,166 sq mi; population (1991 est) 491,700. It is largely open country with the River Duero and its tributaries flowing through it. Valladolid is called the ‘granary of Spain’ and, as well as cereals, produces fruit, olive oil, wine, and honey; industries include textiles, metallurgy, and tanning. The capital is Valladolid.
