Vanderburgh County

County in southwest Indiana; area 611 sq km/236 sq mi; population (1990) 165,100. Its administrative headquarters is the industrial city of Evansville. Its southern boundary is the Ohio River, which forms the Kentucky state border. Most of the county is agricultural, producing winter wheat, hogs, soybeans, and corn. There are also bituminous coal mines.
