Varda, Agnès (1928– )

French film director. Favouring a documentary form throughout her career, she explored feminist themes in such films as Cléo de Cinq à Sept/Cleo from Five to Seven (1961) and L'Une Chante, L'Autre Pas/One Sings the Other Doesn't (1977).

She has also made short films on political topics, as well as the film Jacquot de Nantes (1991), on the youth of her husband, the director Jacques Demy (1931–1990).
