Vega Baja

Town in Vega Baja Municipio, north-central Puerto Rico; population (1990) 27,800. It is located 29 km/18 mi west of San Juan and approximately 6 km/4 mi south of the Atlantic Coast. It is near a number of popular beaches known for their unusual rock formations. The town is a trade hub in an area producing citrus, pineapples, and sugarcane, and there is some light manufacturing.
