Veretti, Antonio (1900-1978)

Italian composer. He studied at Bologna and took a diploma, also a newspaper prize in 1927 for the opera Il medico volante (after Molière). In 1943 he became director of the Conservatorio della Gioventù Italiana in Rome and in 1950 of the Pesaro Conservatory.

Dramatic

the opera Il favorito del re (1932); ballets Il galante tiratore and Una favola di Andersen (1934); film music.

Choral

oratorio Il figliuol prodigo (1942), Sinfonia sacra for men's chorus and orchestra.

Orchestral

Sinfonia musiciana (1929), Sinfonia epica (1938), and Ouverture della Campanella for orchestra.
