Vermilion County

County in east-central Illinois; area 2,331 sq km/900 sq mi; population (1990) 88,300. It is bordered to the east by the state of Indiana. It is crossed by the Vermilion River. Danville is its administrative headquarters. Outside the urban and commercial Danville area in the east-central part of the county, it is agricultural, with many farms growing corn and soybeans.
