Vesalii Icones

Theatre piece by Maxwell Davies for dancer, solo cello, and instrumental ensemble; composed in 1969 and first performed in London on 9 December 1969. The 14 movements are based on anatomical drawings in a treatise (1543) by the physician Andreas Vesalius depicting Christ's Passion and Resurrection.
