Vestavia Hills

Town in Jefferson County, central Alabama; population (1990) 19,700. It is located 8 km/5 mi south of Birmingham city centre, on Shades Mountain. It is a residential suburb. The town was named after its landmark building, Vestavia Temple (1924), which was based on a Roman temple of Vesta.
