Vickers

British engineering company, prominent in the manufacture of munitions. In addition to naval and land artillery, the company gave its name to the ‘Vickers gun’, a modified form of the Maxim machine gun, adopted by the British army in 1912, as well as to a series of aircraft in both world wars. Vickers is now part of the BAE Land Systems company.
