Vierling, Georg

Vierling, Georg (1820–1901)

German organist and conductor. He studied under his father, Jacob Vierling (1796–1867), a schoolmaster and organist, and later at Darmstadt and Berlin. In 1847 he became organist and choral conductor at Frankfurt an der Oder. Later he went to Mainz for a short time and then settled in Berlin, where he became royal music director in 1859 and professor of the Academy in 1882.
