Vigarny, Felipe (c. 1475–1542)

Burgundian sculptor who, from 1498, worked in Spain. He employed a style full of Italianate motifs and styling. An early patron was cardinal Ximénes de Cisneros, of whom he carved an alabaster medallion. Vigarny's main commissions, for tombs, altarpieces, and choir stalls, were in Toledo and Burgos; he collaborated with other sculptors, in particular Alonso Berruguete.
