Vilaine

River in northern France, rising in the Côtes-du-Nord département; length 225 km/140 mi. It flows through the départements of Ille-et-Vilaine and Morbihan to the Bay of Biscay. The towns on its banks include Vitré, Rennes, and Redon; the river is navigable from the Bay of Biscay to Rennes.
