Vinings

Town in Cobb County, north Georgia; population (1990) 7,400. It is situated 14 km/9 mi northwest of Atlanta city centre, across the Chattahoochee River, on the high ground from which Gen William Tecumseh Sherman viewed Atlanta at the beginning of his 1864 siege of the city. Vinings is now a commercial and residential suburb, with many new office towers.
