Viotti, Marcello (1954–2005)

Swiss conductor. He studied in Geneva and has conducted opera at Turin from 1985. He was director of Lucerne Opera from 1987 until 1992, and music director at Bremen Opera. He made guest appearances in Frankfurt (Andrea Chénier, 1989), Lucerne (Die Zauberflöte/The Magic Flute and La Sonnambula/The Sleepwalker) and with the Suisse Romande Orchestra. He became conductor of the Saarland Radio Symphony Orchestra, in 1991.
