Vittadini, Franco (1884–1948)

Italian composer and conductor. He studied at the Milan Conservatory, became conductor at Varese, and later settled at Pavia, where he became director of the Istituto Musicale.

Works

Vocal

operas Il mare di Tiberiade (composed 1914), Anima allegra (after the Quintero brothers, 1921), Nazareth (after Lagerlöf, 1925), La Sagredo (1930) and Caracciolo (1938); ten masses and motets; oratorio Il natale di Gesù (1931), Le sette parole di Cristo for chorus (1933).

Instrumental

ballets Vecchia Milano, La dame galanti and Fiordisole; symphonic poem Armonie della notte; organ works.
