Vittori, Loreto (1600–1670)

Italian soprano castrato and composer. He studied with Soto, Nanini, and Soriano in Rome and lived for a time at the court of Cosimo II de' Medici at Florence, but returned to Rome and entered the Papal Chapel in 1622. Among his pupils were Queen Christina of Sweden, during her residence in Rome, and Pasquini.

Works

opera La Galatea (1639); plays with music La fiera di Palestrina and Le zitelle canterine (music of both lost); three sacred dramas (music lost); arias.
