Vogel, Johann Christoph (1756–1788)

German composer. He was a pupil of Riepel at Regensburg and went to Paris in 1776. There he became an enthusiastic supporter of Gluck, to whom he dedicated his first opera, La Toison d'or/The Golden Fleece and Démophon (1789). He also wrote symphonies, and symphonies concertantes for wind instruments and orchestra.
