Voiculescu, Vasile

    0.51 sec.

Voiculescu, Vasile (1884–1963)

Romanian poet and novelist. His Poezii/Poems 1916 reflect the influence of George Coşbuc. Later volumes – Poeme cu ingeri/Poems with Angels 1927, Destin/Destiny 1933, and Urcus/Ascent 1937 – give voice to a more individual style.

A number of ‘feigned translations of an imaginary final sequence of sonnets by Shakespeare’ were written by Voiculescu between 1954 and 1958, when he was arrested. They were published posthumously in 1965, as was the novel Zahei orbul/Blind Zahei 1966.
