Voight, Jon

Voight, Jon (1938– )

US actor. He acted on stage and television during the 1960s but became an international star in his role as a naive hustler in the film classic Midnight Cowboy (1969). He received an Academy Award for his role in as a paraplegic Vietnam veteran in Coming Home (1977).

Voight's other films include Deliverance (1972), Runaway Train (1985), and Enemy of the State (1998). In 2001, he starred in the films Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Pearl Harbor, and the biopic Ali. Later films include Holes (2003), The Karate Dog (2004) and The Manchurian Candidate (2004).
