Volans, Kevin (1949– )

South African composer. His music combines avant-garde techniques with native African idioms. The opera The Man Who Strides the Wind was performed at the 1993 Almeida Festival in London.

He studied with Kagel and Stockhausen at Cologne. He was composer-in-residence at Princeton University in 1992.
