Volkert, Franz (Joseph) (1778–1845)

Austrian organist, composer, and conductor. He was settled in Vienna as an organist by 1801 and was deputy Kapellmeister at the Leopoldstadt Theatre (c. 1814–24).

c. 150 music pieces for the stage (farces, melodramas, pantomimes, etc.); masses; organ and piano pieces; songs.
